That’s all the time you have to convince a recruiter or talent acquisition specialist that you are relevant before they move on to the next candidate.
One of the biggest takeaways from our latest “Insights for Breakfast” at Ferrosan.
A company with 20 different nationalities, growing 6–7% every year, and actively supporting internationals through initiatives such as the International Spouse Network.
With a projected shortage of 90,000 employees in Denmark by 2030, internationals are not just welcome — they are part of the solution.
The message throughout the morning was clear:
- Relevance
- Evidence
- Clarity
Whether in your CV, LinkedIn profile, or interviews.
Some memorable LinkedIn advice:
- Be searchable
- Be reliable
- Be memorable
- We also heard inspiring personal stories from international employees.
Long Zhao, now a Project Engineer at Ferrosan, shared his journey from working in Medical Engineering R&D in China to Denmark. His reflections on Danish work culture stood out:
– Respect for holidays and privacy
– Trust in employees’ expertise
– A healthy work-life balance
– And yes… apparently you are expected to bring cake on your birthday 🎂
Raquel Costa, originally from Portugal and having worked across Europe, described the contrast between cultures perfectly: “Portugal is about improvising. Denmark is about planning and executing.”
She also highlighted the level of responsibility and trust given from day one — without micromanagement. And of course, one cultural adjustment many internationals apparently experience:
Lunch in Denmark feels more like breakfast compared to Southern Europe 😄
A very insightful morning about international talent, workplace culture, and what makes professionals stand out in today’s job market.
